Dan Hannan, the British J.C. Watts, and that's no compliment

It's nice to have someone this articulate profess conservative principles.  Sean Hannity even had him on his show.  Another Margaret Thatcher?  An English Ronald Reagan?  One could hope.

One caveat, one big fat caveat.  Hannan was and still is, an Obama supporter, or at least one of those infatuated with the idea of electing a black man and "a really nice guy" (you've got to say it like Lili Von Shtupp in Blazing Saddles).

We had our own 'conservatives' like JC Watts who traded principle and the good of the country for a "See rappin' thugs, we did it for you, now pull up your pants, get a job, don't murder, stop churning out illegitimate children, get off welfare, and marry your college sweetheart" moment, "for all is now well (you've got to say it like Michelle Obama) in America, mea culpa, mea culpa."  Just google Hannan Obama and read his own words.  7/2/2008 "Obama is no leftie."  3/22/09 "I won't disown Obama, yet."

Personally, Maudie keeps a leary eye on guys like this.  If he were to run in a general election outside of his obvious conservative district, "Ask not, if his ideology would change, Ask how much it would change."  (You've got to say it like JFK.)

Obama is no leftie?  Hopefully he meant, "Obama is beyond left, like a soul mate of Saul Alinsky left, a former of Acorn left, 20 years of Jeremiah Wright left...", but we doubt it.
