Obama requests an additional $199.95 for sniper training

I usually shoot an email off to these conservative pundits or whatever they happen to be, derisively chiding them (in a humorous way) if I happen to disagree with a point they're making.  About half respond (derisively) and I let it go at that.  I had nothing better to do, and this guy responded while I was burning some cd's, so we went tete-a-tete until I lost interest.  Frontpagemag.com is a great conservative website but it's imperative someone keep them on track.

Here are the emails.  You can read Jacob's article above.

Maudie's response to Jacob's article:  Quote "(T)he president showed that he will not hesitate to use force when necessary to safeguard American lives."  To use that standard, even Jimmy Carter passed.  No one was in imminent danger, per se, they were just hostages.  Ditto the captain.  I wonder what Obama would have done if the pirates had laid their guns down (at the ready) and had never 'pointed' one at him.  Would this have gone on for 444 days?  Let's be clear, the authorization was never to rescue him, rather to use deadly force only if in imminent danger, in other words tied to a post, provided a last cigarette, then blindfolded.  Provide an example of when "Secretary of State Clinton’s demand(s) for forceful action" meant anything?  Letting your hostage languish is not "boldness" if you can take out the pirates, but that was not the authorization.  Entebbe was boldness.  It seems the Navy commander or the Seals showed boldness in  devising a plan to circumvent the lack of will shown by Obama to rescue the hostage by using deadly force when the occasion arose.  "Imminent danger, Commander!"  Blam, blam, blam.  (Wink wink)  Let's not get silly trying to look bipartisan.

Jacob responding:  Thanks for your note, but I disagree. Had the operation been bungled, Obama would have been left with the blame, and rightly so. The corollary is that deserves credit for its success. Fair is fair, and bipartisanship has nothing to do with it. JL

Maudie's response:  "As Commander in Chief, I gave authorization to military commanders on site to use deadly force only if the Captain's life was in imminent danger.  It was so determined and a Navy Seal team fired upon the pirates.  Needless to say, they missed their targets and the Captain was executed.  Michelle and I are praying for the Phillip's family.  I still believe the Seals are one of America's elite fighting forces, and have requested an additional $199.95 from congress for additional sniper training."

I'm not sure who would have blamed Obama for missing their targets.

You're a good man, Jacob Laksin

Jacob getting ticked:  "I'm not sure who would have blamed Obama for missing their targets?"

That’s an easy one. The same people who seem inexplicably outraged by the mildest credit to the president of the United States. I could be more specific, but I trust you get the general idea.

Maudie:  Outraged?  I think you're losing the argument, Keith.  (This was a reference to Keith Olberman.  I don't know if Jacob got it, but I got a good laugh.)

Jacob, the best he could do:  Oh boy. Back to the fever swamps you go.

Maudie, becoming bored:  Jacob, Come on.  You have to admit, $199.95 is pretty funny; far from Outraged!!  Love ya, Maudie
ps:  I can't keep this up.  I've got Rush and Hannity on the other line.
