'The poor' shouldn't be the issue of the Church

Thank you Holy Father for leaving 'the poor' script in Rome.   'Better is the poor man, that walketh in his simplicity, than a rich man that is perverse in his lips, and unwise.' (Prov 19:1)  Better is the poor man, that walketh in his simplicity, than a poor man who receives a welfare check, is perverse in his lips, and unwise.  The poor script may mean having the Church and charities take care of the poor if not their family, friends, and neighbors, but it has become liberal ammunition for higher taxes, welfare, and the destruction of families.  The Church should not be a partner in this crime.

FATIMA, Portugal (AP) - Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday called abortion and same-sex marriage some of the most "insidious and dangerous" threats facing the world today, asserting key church teachings as he tried to move beyond the clerical abuse scandal.

If priests want to sermonize on a Sunday about helping the poor and pass the hat for a special collection, super!  But all the blathering on about the environment and the poor confuses the easily duped and feeds the Socialist appetite both in and outside of the Church.
Here's Father Maudie's sermon on the poor:  Government does not help the poor.  You help the poor.  Lower taxes and give to the Church.

Laser in on homosexuality and abortion and you build your flock, again.  If the world press wishes to dwell on the pedophile priests, correct them.  "It was the homosexual priests, the filth."
