(Prov 19:1) Better is the poor man, that walketh in his simplicity, than a poor man who receives a welfare check, is perverse in his lips, and unwise. The poor script may mean having the Church and charities take care of the poor if not their family, friends, and neighbors, but it has become liberal ammunition for higher taxes, welfare, and the destruction of families. The Church should not be a partner in this crime.

If priests want to sermonize on a Sunday about helping the poor and pass the hat for a special collection, super! But all the blathering on about the environment and the poor confuses the easily duped and feeds the Socialist appetite both in and outside of the Church.
