I've been deluged with e-mails regarding my post 'Does the Methodist altar have foot stirrups?, objecting that not all Methodists are pro-abortion.
Of course not all Catholics are pro-life either, but the Catholic Church is, along with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), and the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). These Churches have always been pro-life. No question, no straddling, no mealy mouthed placation.
You can find Catholics who are pro-abortion, pro homosexual marriage, pro-women priests, and pro-coveting thy neighbors goods (taxes). But it is up to the Church to hold true to its core beliefs and traditions, and what is right in the eyes of God.
The Methodist Church, like so many others, has chosen the easy way out and capitulated to pro-abortionists. While only Howard Dean's United so-called 'Church' of Christ favors all forms of abortion, all the time for any reason, most try to placate both sides of the aisle by statements such as The Episcopal Church's "All human life is sacred. Hence it is sacred from its inception until death." The statement then goes on to equivocate, making sure it appeals to all comers. In 1994, the 71st General Convention expressed "unequivocal opposition to any ... action ... that [would] abridge the right of a woman to reach an informed decision about the termination of her pregnancy, or that would limit the access of a woman to a safe means of acting upon her decision." In 1997, at the 72nd General Convention, the delegates approved a resolution that did not condemn partial-birth abortions.
But hey, other than that, "All life is sacred" to the Episcopal Church!!
