Washington DC: 'Gun Control Utopia, fend for yourself.'

Recently the National Mall in our nations capital was the location of choice for armed robbers.  Elsewhere in the city, a British man had his throat slit in predominantly white Georgetown as he was walking home at 2 a.m. with a girl friend who was raped.  3 black males and one female were arrested.   If not for the crimes against 'visitors', we would only hear about D.C. crime while playing Trivial Pursuit, "Name the city in the U.S. with the highest murder rate per capita."

Now politicians are clamoring for a larger police force while the police are telling residents and tourists to "be vigilant".  Tourists may want to consult the D.C. council's laws on discrimination and racial profiling before reporting their 'vigilant' observations to a cop.  "Sir, I'd like to report 4 blacks here in Georgetown at 2 a.m..  No, they haven't done anything yet, but I think someone needs to watch them."  Hopefully the diligent tourist won't be thrown in the slammer or issued a hate speech citation.

Something that might come as a surprise to many people is that police are not required to protect individual citizens.   In Warren v. District of Columbia (444 A.2d 1,1981), the D.C. Court of Appeals ruled, "official police personnel and the government employing them are not generally liable to victims of criminal acts for failure to provide adequate police protection.  In Bowers v. DeVito (686 F. 2d 616, 1982), the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled, "[T]here is no constitutional right to be protected by the state against being murdered by criminals or madmen."

One person who should know this is Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.).  She, like all good liberal Democrats across the fruited plain, has made Washington DC a gun control utopia which has resulted in that city usually leading the country in murders per capita.  Since police cannot escort every tourist group, and since concealed carry is outlawed except for criminals, by the time police arrive at the scene someone is already dead or robbed.  A sign ought to be posted at the city limits warning: 'Welcome to Washington D.C., a Gun Control Utopia.  Fend for yourself.'

James Zogby and those 'coward' civilians

Oh isn't it so easy for James Zogby and his Arab 'American' Institute to fight their war against the Jews by hiding their terrorist bretheren among the "civilians and their civilized infrastructure".  Zogby's war plan against Israel is to say nothing when Hizbolla reigns down rockets on innocent life in Israel, then when Israel retaliates (finally) and things aren't looking so good for his terrorist bretheren, Zogby whines for a cease-fire so that his terrorist compatriots can regroup in peace.  In sports we call this a time out.

No word from ol' James on how he feels about his terrorist brothers preventing Lebanese civilians from evacuating southern Lebanon.  James probably has a word for those innocent civilians who don't like the idea of Zogby's group using them as human shields..."cowards".

California's phony embryonic stem cell crusade

Isn't it odd, in November Californians voted to tax themselves to the tune of $3 billion dollars over the next ten years to fund human embryonic stem cell research.  Governor Schwarzenegger said that Proposition 71 would be a "boon" to the biotechnology industry in California.  "We daringly led the way for the high-tech industry, and now voters can help ensure we lead the way for the biotech industry."  Sounds like mega-billions for the state if the research pans out.

That's a big 'if ', since there have been zero benefits from embryonic stem cells to date, as opposed to myriad breakthroughs using adult stem cells.   However, if embryonic stem cells do indeed provide something more than just "great hope to the American people", California (and its politicians) would certainly cash in on its success.

But Schwarzenegger has asked President Bush not to veto federal funding for embryonic research.  If you know you will eventually have a sure thing, why would the California governor want to share the pie with the federal government?  Because California is sure to get a lion's share of the 'free' billions from the federal largesse approved by Congress.  The state and its university labs will forever be a haven for embryonic research without the state dipping into their coffers.  No breakthrough?  No problem.  Just like the never ending federal funding to find the 'cure' for cancer which has yielded questionable results, the federal gravy train "boon" on embryonic research papers has just begun.

2010 update:  4 years later and Schwarzenegger's boondoggle doesn't even garner a mention within all his other boondoggles.  God works in mysterious ways.  Gloria Patri.

Frist's embryonic black hole

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist tells us in his Washington Post editorial that he's pro-life, then continues as to why he will support taxpayer funded embryonic stem cell research.  What the good Senator from Tennessee doesn't address is why the federal government has to fund this research.  If business thought much of embryonic stem cell research, they would jump into it with R&D.  It's not like venture capitalists can only use American embryonic cells.  With international companies, they could set up shop in Bangladesh if they thought they could reap billions.  Why U.S. taxpayers?

Once government begins billions in grants to research centers, you will have those same defenders of the money trough that brought you global warming.  Research paper after research paper and scientific computer models to prove it.  If billions spent doesn't lead to any 'cure', not a problem, it just means we need more money to find it.  Frist has already admitted this by stating "Even though cures may take years to develop...".  Yes, years and years and years.  Adult stem cells have already been used in a number of medical  breakthroughs.  Embryonic stem cells have produced lesions and welts.  When billions are offered up to the medical community for embryonic research, why would labs waste time on adult stem cell research when they have instant profits by sitting in a lab writing papers about the 'promise of the embryo' and collecting their 'research' grants from Uncle Sam?

Senator Frist uses his M.D. badge as weight for his argument, much like an abortionist soothes the moral trepidation of a young patient.  "Don't worry, honey, I'm a doctor."  The National Cancer Act was passed in 1971 with Congress assuming that providing more money and setting up the National Program would allow scientists to virtually eradicate cancer by 1976.  After billions of dollars handed out to researchers year after year, all you hear is that more money is needed.  You have to wonder what these researchers would do if someone actually did find a cure.  Would it be too bold to ask Dr. Frist if he has any friends, family, or close ties to any University that will benefit from the embryonic funding?  Keep an eye open.

Here's a prediction:  35 years from now, every researcher and lab receiving funds from the taxpayer will espouse 'the promise of the embryo' and demand increased funding.  Wanna bet?

Lebanon has John Murtha cahones

The Lebanese Prime Minister called on the U.N. to broker a cease-fire to end Israel's invasion.  He says he'll take back control from Hezbollah the southern parts of his country.

Where was this clown for the last decade?  Where was the Lebanese 'army' when Hezbollahaha was firing missles into Israel and kidnapping Israeli troops?  Does anyone other than Kofi Annan and liberals in this country believe that all of a sudden  Lebanon has grown cahones and will stand up to these terrorists?  Fat chance.  The first time Hezbollah turns its sights on Lebanese soldiers, they'll run away faster than you can say John Murtha.

Mengele and Goebbels - Robust academic debate?

"Gov't Documents Prove Abuse of Patriot Act, Says ACLU" is the headline from CNSnews.com here

Because George W Bush has kept foreign enemies and crackpots out of this country, the ACLU claims "robust academic debate" is being sacrificed.  There's never enough hate America voices in this country for the ACLU, from its own members to U. of Colorado Prof Ward Churchhill, U. of Wisconsin Kevin Barrett, Cindy Sheehan, and all Democrats who enable traitors like these.  If only President Roosevelt had extended invitations to Mengele and Goebbels during WWII, how robust academic debate would have been!  God protect this country from Democrat voters who enable the ACLU and this kind of thinking.

All life is kinda sacred to Episcopalians

I've been deluged with e-mails regarding my post 'Does the Methodist altar have foot stirrups?, objecting that not all Methodists are pro-abortion.

Of course not all Catholics are pro-life either, but the Catholic Church is, along with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), and the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).  These Churches have always been pro-life.  No question, no straddling, no mealy mouthed placation.

You can find Catholics who are pro-abortion, pro homosexual marriage, pro-women priests, and pro-coveting thy neighbors goods (taxes).  But it is up to the Church to hold true to its core beliefs and traditions, and what is right in the eyes of God.

The Methodist Church, like so many others, has chosen the easy way out and capitulated to pro-abortionists.  While only Howard Dean's United so-called 'Church' of Christ favors all forms of abortion, all the time for any reason, most try to placate both sides of the aisle by statements such as The Episcopal Church's "All human life is sacred. Hence it is sacred from its inception until death." The statement then goes on to equivocate, making sure it appeals to all comers.  In 1994, the 71st General Convention expressed "unequivocal opposition to any ... action ... that [would] abridge the right of a woman to reach an informed decision about the termination of her pregnancy, or that would limit the access of a woman to a safe means of acting upon her decision."  In 1997, at the 72nd General Convention, the delegates approved a resolution that did not condemn partial-birth abortions.

But hey, other than that, "All life is sacred" to the Episcopal Church!!

Scientists all agree: God is a Republican

It's tedious responding to incessant babble from Democrats.  But if the drool is left sitting in a pool on their hi-chair, people might notice and consider it normal (or true).

Henrietta Reid, the always clucking Senate Permanent Minority Loser whined on the Senate floor that "serious issues" such as gasoline prices, health care costs, Voting Rights Act, and passing a Senate (tax payer funded embryonic) stem cell bill is of utmost importance to his permanent minority party.  He moaned that Republicans hadn't given workers a meaningful raise lately and hadn't accepted the 'link' to wildfires and "changing climate patterns".

It's no surprise that Reid and his Democrat Socialist Party of America want the Politburo to set prices on gasoline and Hillary Health Care as in other communist countries.  The fact that our economy has been the greatest in the world for over a century makes no never mind to socialists.  Speaking of Democrats, , it is indeed socialist governments that dictate wages.  Voting rights is a bogus issue today, except when Democrats insist on showing no ID and sue when dead people are removed from the voting rolls.  It's called "disenfranchisement" of honest voters.

As to her contention that global warming (here) is causing wildfires, my sister lives in an undisclosed location in the mountains of Colorado on 2000 acres.  Her husband complains that government regulations forbidding grazing on federal land which would remove piles of dead underbrush, and restrictions on lumber companies clearing overgrown forest is cause for most of the fires Henrietta complains about.  As to Henrietta's "wasting time on issues that matter to conservatives, such as the marriage amendment, drilling in the Artic Wildlife Refuge, flag burning, bankruptcy, class action and the estate tax", this is absolute proof that God is a Republican.   Scientists all agree.

Barney Frank: Gay sex before security

In order to get more homosexuals into our country, Democrat Barney Frank pushed legislation (the Frank Amendment) in the '80's which
made it more difficult for immigration officials to deny visas to foreigners of questionable character.  (read it here) Three key provisions which the Frank Amendment stripped from our laws which had been used to keep terrorists and the like from receiving a visa were:  if applicant
--Participated in activities that would be prejudicial to the public interest or public safety;

-- are members in subversive organizations or teaching or advocating subversive views; and a high

-- Likelihood of engaging in subversive activities after entry into the country.

Someone with alot more common sense than Ms Frank knew dangerous foreigners with dangerous ideas shouldn't be allowed in our country.  It would be easy for her to now claim that after 9-11 things have changed.  The problem is, 3000 people are dead.  Our government is supposed to protect us before an attack, not after!!   The fact that Ms Frank increased the danger to Americans so that she could have an increased pool of boy friends is disgusting.

Democrat Jamie Gorelick and her 'wall' preventing the sharing of information between the FBI and CIA during the Clinton administration, Democrat Barney Frank and his invitation to terrorists, Bill Clinton's tepid response to terrorist attacks, Murtha, Pelosi, Reid, et al,; no matter how upset you get with Republicans, you can't allow Democrats to be in charge of Congress or our nations security.

Texas Republicans need the New Jersey Supreme Court

A federal district judge has ruled that Tom DeLay's name must remain on the ballot for the November Texas elections.

In 2002, Democrats went to their liberal New Jersey Supreme Court to get Frank Lautenberg on the ballot for Senate.  Lautenberg replaced Torricelli who dropped out after his name had been printed on the ballots.  New Jersey law required candidates to be selected 51 days prior to an election.  Needless to say, their liberal Supreme Court ignored the law and ruled that ballots already printed with Torricelli's name should be replaced and new ones printed "to allow voter's a choice on election day".  Texas Republicans should use the New Jersey ruling as precedent to challenge the ruling and "allow voter's a real choice" don't you know.

Priest scandals pale to NEA

Soo, the nation's largest teachers' union voted to amend its resolutions last Wednesday to include support for homosexual "marriage."  Their thinking goes, if we're a miserable failure at teaching children, we may as well indoctrinate them into the homosexual community while we're waiting for 3 o'clock.

Between supporting the homosexual agenda and sexually assaulting our children, it's no surprise that the NEA has no time left for teaching the 3 r's.  Thank God, the Catholic Church homosexual scandal wasn't as prevalent as the NEA sexual assaults.  As the NEA is quick to call for support of state legislature approved homosexual marriage, no word from them on support for laws by other state legislatures against homosexual marriage.  Every state referendum on defining marriage as between a male and female has passed, which would include the votes of many parents whose children attend NEA lifestyle schools.

It's tough to know if your daughter is safe from her male NEA teacher because he's inclined to boys, or if the stud is giving her the eye.

Parents, beware.

Colo House of Representatives honors death

The Colorado House of Representatives recently honored Planned Parenthood for murdering millions of babies over the last 30 years. Pro-life Republican Ted Harvey was disgusted when he learned of the legislation.  He introduced abortion survivor Gianna Jessen who sang the National Anthem in the House .

Marjorie Signer, director of communications and policy for the so-called 'Religious' Coalition for Reproductive Choice (aka the Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights), stated that Harvey is a politician portraying himself as "a servant of God."

Ms Signer questioned rhetorically whether Harvey knew all the great things Planned Parenthood did in their abortion mills.  A more honest response would have included (parentheses added) "Does he know about all the (abortions and) health care Planned Parenthood provides -- (abortions and) 'family planning' counseling and 'services', (abortions and) testing for sexually transmitted diseases, (abortions and) providing Pap smears for cancer detection, (abortions) and more?"  She adds "Clearly, Mr. Harvey is obsessed with abortion,...".

Really?  When Planned Parenthood's abortion mill churns up hundreds of thousands of innocent babies each year, and when those abortions are the raison d’etre of Ms Signer's so called 'Religious' coalition, it's clear which party is "obsessed with abortion".  If one had to choose who is indeed a "servant of God" history will show it was not Ms Signer and her 'Religious' coalition.

Does the Methodist altar have foot stirrups?

The United Methodist Church and Amnesty International recently decried the 30th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision allowing capital punishment to continue in the U.S. with a vigil outside the nation's high court, CNSnews reports.  The United Methodist Church (UMC) is giddy that they were the first church to come out against capital punishment.  "Fifty years ago, the United Methodist Church gave a bold yes to life," said UMC Bishop Ray Chamberlain, "and a resounding no to the death penalty.

The sanctimonious bishop says in their judgment it is "morally indefensible to deliberately destroy life, devalues life to the ultimate extreme, and continues the cycle of violence." Obviously to the Methodists, some killing devalues life more than other killing.  The United Methodist Church began in the early 1970s to view abortion as a "choice". Their favor of abortion has been so strong that two of its institutions helped organize and affiliate with the Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights. For many years RCAR used office space in the United Methodist Building across the street from the U.S. Supreme Court. In both 1996 and 1997 the United Methodist Church publicly supported President Clinton’s veto of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act.

Query:  Does the Methodist altar have foot stirrups?  Anyone??

Since 1976 there have been 1,029 people who've been heard by a jury of their peers and executed for their crimes against humanity.  Since the 1973 Roe v Wade, there have been over a million babies executed each and every year for convenience.  So much for the Methodist's phony moral judgments.

Howard Dean's 'moral' nation

DNC Chairman Howard Dean, in one speech, typifies what normal Americans see in today's Democrat party...nothing.  One thought after another condradicts the one before.  "This is a moral nation, and we want it to be a moral nation again."  Run that by me again?  "We're about to enter the '60s again!" he proclaims, but he wants to make sure they don't screw things up like they did in the '60s.

Public housing and welfare queens were created by the Democrat Party which led to the ruination of the black family and continues to this day.  "Those mistakes were not the downfall of our program," says Dean.  One assumes he's referring to even bigger mistakes.  After
taxing the American people hundreds of billions of dollars and 5 decades later he states that the 'Great Society' welfare programs "created a culture of dependence, and that's not good for anybody".  Dean and the Democrats will now switch to the novel concept of "emphasizing the value of work".

But there will be no handouts this go 'round.  Nope, no handouts, but, well maybe some handouts.  We'll force business to pay uneducated, surly, lazy no-shows a 'living wage' so they can support their five children with no father in the family.  We'll force business to cover their expensive government controlled health insurance...but there won't be any handouts!

Will Dean's call for a return to the moral values of the 50's include allowing God back in schools,
outlawing sod*my (Townhall middle school censors) and same-sex marriage, and overturning Roe v Wade?

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."...Vladimir Illyich Lenin

"We know that no one person can succeed unless everybody else succeeds."...DNC Chairman Howard Dean

Bush in skirt and hi-heels

President Bush complains that the New York Times and Los Angeles Times damaged national security by disclosing the classified terrorist surveillance program, Vice President Cheney is said to be angered, Michael Chertoff says "these unauthorized disclosures are tremendously harmful".

This is the second time for the New York Times in seven months.  They act like the judge and jury for national security.  Who do we look to to stop this nonsense?  I never thought of President Bush as a girly man, but if all he is going to do is whine and moan, he ought to do it in a skirt and hi-heels.
